Stephanie Lake
Stephanie Lake leads one of the most successful Social Security law firms in Arizona. Her legal career began in 1988, handling corporate litigation cases for another major Arizona law office. With that successful court case foundation, she founded her own firm in 1992, focusing exclusively on Social Security law. She is one the few disability attorneys in the Phoenix area fluent in Spanish.
Ms. Lake is a 1987 graduate of the University of
Michigan Law School. She holds a bachelor of arts degree
in Russian and Eastern European Studies from the University of
Michigan. She also attended Phillips Academy, Andover, MA.
Ms. Lake has lectured extensively on Social Security
disability issues including Fibromyalgia, HIV, Children’s
Rehabilitation Services and Sjogren’s Disease.
A member of the Social Security Advocates of Phoenix
since 1992, Ms. Lake currently serves as the organization’s
president. In this post, Ms. Lake helps facilitate relationships
between the disabled, judges, and other organizations. She has
also been a member of the National Organization of Social Security
Claims Representatives (NOSSCR) and regularly attends their conferences.
Ms. Lake has handled extensive pro bono work for
the Florence Legal Asylum Project, HIV AIDS Law Project and Social
Security Disability Overpayment Clinics. She has also been active with the Arizona Land & Water
Fund. Ms. Lake, and her husband John Bemiss, have three sons.
